brake pads
trying to change the brake pads myself on v50.
i would value any suggestions for what pads would be good and where to buy? i have looked at amazon ... am i safe to buy on the basis of my model alone? a lot of options with wear indicator, but i do not think i have one. brembo pads came up on the top of the listing - and i have seen those pushed by halfords - are they one-for-one swap with the oem option? i know, basic questions, but not having done it previously myself i'd like to line up my ducks in a row. Based on personal experience I use ATE which is the OEM supplier to Volvo. I've also no issues in the past with Pagid.
Eurocarparts is as good a place as any to get them from. Unfortunately, sometimes parts systems don't always get it right in terms of brake size for the front of our cars so knowing what size your discs are is useful. The size will be stamped on the front of the caliper. 15" - 278 16" - 300 16.5" - 320

I normally use Bosch pads, and have never had any problems. Usually get them from eurocarparts - just wait until there is a decent discount code available.

...... get the price on Eurocarparts then check their sister site Carparts4less which are usually a bit cheaper.

ate +1 on my experiences with C30s, generally brake pads are one of the components ild almost always say stick with volvo orig parts, just choose where you source them from, step one find the volvo P/n (what end, and model C30 do you have) often pattern parts have different or missing backing pads (a thin layer of teflon like material or metal that is on the non wear side of the pad, and also rattle springs (new ones often included with pads) but in the past have found some makes of pad squeal (either due to the pad material or backing) or dont seem to bed in quite as well as original parts) but as brakes are kinda important especially on the front end, if you take a punt with a pattern part ild be doing it on the rear's which dont do as much braking, also bear in mind depending on the pad material it should wear and not the disc so much (discs are prob going to do 50 to 70k mile before needing replacement) but also have a big effect on how well the brakes work when they get to the thin end of their life, places like eur cp often list the thickness range new to fully worn and its well worth measuring them (can often be done without removing a wheel) when checking your pads.. anyway good luck, and hope the above of some use 😁
