Default 02 C70 won't lock

Hi, friends C70 will unlock with remote but won't lock?
You can lock it with the key no problem but it won't lock with the remote. This is the same for both remotes?
I suppose both remotes could be faulty?
However, I found that the boot lock barrel is seized. Would this cause it.
Any thoughts on this please.
Thanks

Not sure if the seized barrel would cause the issue, but surely that needs sorting anyway and you might find that it then cures the locking issue.

Could possibly be the central locking relay or receiver unit...
Does the alarm work when trying to lock vehicle ?

Hi, when trying to lock with the remote nothing happens at all. When locking with the key both locks work.
It then unlocks with the remote fine.
This is a 02 C70 convertible.

Does the boot unlock with two presses on the remote?

I don't know. I didn't try that.
It has a separate boot unlock button which doesn't work.
The remote is the classic Volvo type. Grey with the buttons

could be that the motors to both door lock actuators have gone weak. When that happens the actuators will be ok to lock the car, but not to unlock it (they loose the power to push the door button upwards)

I'm a bit confused.

Are you saying the boot unlock button on the remote doesn't work?

When everything is working correctly the boot should lock when it is closed. There are three ways to unlock it: 1. pull the lever on the drivers door 2. turn the key in the lock barrel on the boot 3. use the remote. The remote should unlock by giving the boot unlock button two presses in quick succession. I have to hold my remote about a foot away from the boot to work, but it does every time.

If you are saying the boot does not unlock using the remote, I would think it is also an issue with the remote with the central locking issues you are having.

Hi,
Neither the boot unlock or the unlock button on both remotes work. The lock button on both remotes does work.
The switch inside the drivers door works to open the boot but the key in the boot lock does not work as it is seized. I don't believe it's the remotes as both are the same. Having said that it still could be.
