Default V70R AWD faulty

Have an '04 V70R with only 2WD.

Have been told it is probably a problem with the bevalgear.
Needs to be stripped down to be diagnosed.

Anyone had this done / similar fault?

B (waiting for a big bill)

I've just done this job on my 04 R . Plenty of information out there on vpcuk or swedespeed forums. Almost certainly the collar will have worn teeth hence no awd. Don't leave it too long as the worn teeth on the collar could wear the teeth on the angle gear / transfer box . Over £1000 for a new one . It's not too bad a job to do just time consuming and the top bolt on the angle gear is a pain.

Also look on the xc90 section. Information is there with guides . Very similar to the R as the awd system is the same.
