1999 V70R AWD Auto - SORN, needs work but driveable - £750
I'm looking at moving on my V70R after having it for a couple of years. It's got 175K on the clock - It's only done around 5K in the last 2 years.
The AWD came in handy in the hills near me last winter. It's an early 99 R with the usual R bits and bobs. Both front seats are electric and heated, sunroof, cruise control, electric windows, central locking - all work fine. It's currently on 17" Comets sprayed grey. There is a Volvo towbar fitted - I've never used it. Pictures will describe the car more that I ever could so I'll attach those at the bottom. By far the biggest problem is an issue with shifting gears between 2 and 3. When it first started hunting for 3rd gear, I tried one cycle of the fluid change using the sump dump method, so it's got around 40% fresh fluid in it, it didn't seem to help much, but it didn't get any worse either. Eventually it threw a code indicating the shift solenoid that helps it move between gear 2 and 3 is sticky. As a precaution, I bought an equivalent gearbox from a 99 C70 which had 100K on it. I also collected the torque converter too. The gearbox that I have spare has one digit different on the part number. While Volvo state that both of these gearboxes are replaced with the same part number in later life, I can't guarantee a 100% fitment. However, the parts may be usable if you wanted to attempt a refurbish of the valve body. I'm not going to lie and say "just a flush will sort it out" - the honest answer is I don't know. It's a car that's a bit of a workhorse, so it's got a few marks here and there. It's got a squeak from the top mount, front passengers side. Overnight you'll get a couple of drops of coolant on the floor. The boot plastic is missing but I have it - it needs reattaching. Load cover present but doesn't retract. I've got one key for it, no fobs. Seats have a few marks, I've shown the worst on one of the pictures. Service history is limited - I have some receipts and old MOTs but not all. Aircon isn't working (fairly standard!) and it does have a murmur on it's idle. It has MOT until the start of September, it's done around 2K since the previous one, and it didn't have any advisories then. My insurance has also now ran out. Overall It's been a good motor, but it was never a show model. It's been great for collecting 10ft fence posts and numerous tip trips, but it's now surplus to requirements. Price, looking for around £750, based LE67. A few more pictures; https://goo.gl/photos/RBAZtRNmWxm2zhr2A If you want any more photos of anything in particular, drop me a note.
