Default Oil filter removal tool

Hi all

Any recommendations on an oil filter removal tool? I presume it's 86mm.

Apologies, I know this has been discussed before but the forum search function doesn't work on phones.

Sorry, can't help with the tool, but for the search, try to add " site:volvoforums.org.uk" to your search at google or startpage.

What I do, if I'm on the phone and search for something:
- use startpage.com as a search page (it uses google but protects your privacy)
- add this string after your search term " site:volvoforums.org.uk OR site:swedespeed.com"

Cheers Paddy, I completely forgot about that (even if I've never actually done it before)

I bought the tool off amazon which has managed to be both 'made of high quality stainless steel' and 'chrome plated aluminium'. I suppose they wouldn't have sold man 'cast silvery monkey metal' ones.

Search for "86mm 16 Flute Oil Filter Tool"

I purchased one similar to this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/86mm-Cart...YAAOSwfW5dmE2F

I did once have an issue where the filter housing got stuck onto the tool and it took a bit of swearing to remove it, but that has only happened once out of many filter changes.

Don't know if you have room enough for this tool but I used this on my diesel filter. Had enough grip with this.

Sounds like the journey to Mars should start at their factory

Good luck with the oil change, this is the one thing, I don't do myself. We have a drive-in oil change center here in Munich, that is great for that matter. Takes around 15 to 20 minutes, you don't even have to leave your car. All in (filter, fluid, labour) for 53€ (Shell 5W-40) or 78€ (Shell 5W-30).

Here's the one I bought (albeit mine came without the logo)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/DEDC-Filter...6254007&sr=8-1

Seems up to the task. Looks like I might have to get a filter wrench anyway as the wifes beetle is due a service and the usual guy can't fit in. Should be easy enough, filter is even on the top.

Did change the fuel filter at the weekend with minimal petrol dissappearing up my sleeve. Immediately got rid of a message ony dash.

Quick oil change and replace brake position sensor this weekend. Will replace the coolant after Christmas.
