Default Is there a partial limp mode??

So today, v50 i noticed was much reduced in power but not to normal limp mode levels and no whooshing whistle type noise when you put your foot down. No check engine thing came up (though was still in the system from last limp mode) and when i turned off the car it came up with "Time for regular service"

errr any clues as to what was going on with it?

In which case it could be the swirl flaps. I had similar symptoms, paid to have them replaced and all is now fine. Yours might be fixable (possibly DIY), there are a number of articles online that might help.

A friend of mine had exactly the same symptoms, albeit with a Vauxhall Disastra (that truly lives up to that nickname!) because it was overdue a service.

In short, the ECU had detected the engine oil was no longer performing at its best so it had reduced power output to prevent engine damage. An oil/filter change service followed by a forced DPF regen and all was returned to normal.

Given your Service Indicator shouted at you when you switched off, i'd suggest that as the first port of call.

I had as you describe in my V70 D5 engine. Swirl flap arm had fallen off due to wear. Very easy to locate, bought another on Ebay (less than a tenner) and put it on. Needed VIDA to reset and then I was back in business. I'm told a dealer would have charged up to £300

(all for a silly bit of plastic our engines rely on!)

very curious. Literally garage the day before told me they think there was an oil leek. Which im pretty sure there isnt as the car sat in one spot for a week and no oil stains. at this point im wondering if the glasgaw garage is deliberately breaking things.

i think i hate this car.

My V70 is now jinxed and has a bad oil leak from swirl arm port. A job that's beyond my DIY other than the vida calibration at the end ☹️
