Do you loose the Sport mode with the auto-box when having a polestar upgrade, or is it still there after the upgrade? And is the sportsmode like super sports mode then?

Polestar is not available on the D3 engine. There seems to be some confusion about it within Volvo though. Some friends of ours ordered an XC60 D3 with Polestar, which the dealer accepted and processed. They had previously emailed Volvo to check the upgrade was available and been told it was. It was not until the order got further through the Volvo system that it was refused. The reason that came back was that this restriction is to protect sales of the D5, as expected.

There is a silver lining though, as the dealer agreed to change their order to a D5 at no extra cost. I wouldn't rely on that route though!

Just checked the Polestar homepage now, they do offer the D3 AWD 2011, up from 163bhp to 225bhp. Torque goes from 420 to 460Nm. The D3 is, however, not listed for the 2012 model.

Not a bad increase if you ask me.

But there is no D3 AWD MY11 only MY12 in the UK!!

Do you think that is a mistake, or meant for a different market?

There are 3 versions of D3:

The 2000 cc 150 bhp used in V50/S40 range

The 2000 cc 163 bhp as in S60

The 2400 AWD 163 bhp in the XC60 .

no wonder there is some confusion .
