Default is it a 740 turbo ?

hi everyone just joined the site, my current drive is s60 t5 (best car i have ever owned, and ive had a few in my time) i'm a postman and i see a lot of things parked up , and today i have seen a G reg 740 thats been sat for a while, i can't see the back of the car, to verify what model it is , the reg tells me its a 2.3 but i cannot find out if its the turbo model , it has turbo wheels and lights in the front spoiler , is there any way i can tell what model it is before i knock on the gentlemens door to see if he would like to sell , your help/advice would be greatly appreciated, if i dont buy this its just going to dissolve into the driveway. is there a website i can put the reg into that will tell me the model ,spec etc

next time you pass it, write the reg number down, then when you get chance online, try one of the parts companies with the reg, that will display what model it is.

Put it in to compare the market and that will tell you what it is better than euro car parts which always puts whatever car I type in as a year newer than it is.

Ring a Volvo dealer and from the reg they might be able to give you the VIN number which contains the code for the engine, or they might be able to just tell you outright.

As you're a postie and you know it's owned by a gentleman, i'm guessing you've delivered mail there before. If so, next time you get a delivery there, knock the door and simply ask.
You may find it is a turbo but was taken off the road because the turbo died.

Often the direct approach is the best way, especially as you plan on saving/restoring it.
