Default Help.. no 3rd gear after ATF change

I have an s60 2002 2.4t geartronic.

it has 135k km

decided to change ATF

gave it to a local workshop and supplied ATF purchased from volvo.

it came back with engine light on and no 3rd gear.

In manual mode it works if you skip from 2 to 4

in 3 the revs rise and nothing happens.

also noticed that dipstick is broken.... could the broken piece be inside the gearbox and causing this problem???

Sounds very much like they've removed the "filler" plug on the top of the gearbox to put the oil in.
Except it's not a filler plug, it holds third gear in place.......

Sorry to tell you....

I have a broken dipstick on an AW55-50 , its snapped off flush and there is nothing to grip to enable it to be withdrawn from its housing tube , the yellow top still fits on but its a clean break . Thinking about a pair of tweezers or a sharp pin digging it in with pliers but I know its tight in so this may not work , any other ideas ?

I'd suggest you take the dipstick tube off to retreive the broken part.

You may loose some fluid so be ready with a pan and some fluid to top it up, and a new dipstick.
