I smashed my GLT. Anyone need parts?
As the title says. 1988 GLT estate, manual box, car's a writeoff but still some good bits on it. The interior stays for now but may become available depending on whether the next 240 I get has tan interior or not. Probably the wheels will stay too. I'm going to be stealing a bunch of engine parts off it for may B230FT project, but most other stuff that's not smashed up is for sale. Car needs to be kept as a rolling unit for now.
To be honest I really don't have the energy to dig into it and part it out, but it pains me to see good parts go to the crusher. The car's only about until the end of the month and maybe scrapped sooner if I get sick of the sight of it. It's also not at my home so I can't just run outside and do things instantly. I'll remove and post small bits, and remove bigger bits for you to collect, but I can't be bothered to run around arranging couriers for stuff. Located in west Surrey, 5 minutes drive from M25 junction 11. Pics just after the crash: Last edited by wooble; Apr 22nd, 2010 at 21:25. |

Owch, very sad news. Hope you're all right.
If the driver's door is ok, how much would you want for it? |

It was entirely my fault, I was distracted at a junction and made a right turn in front of an oncoming car, was probably about a 40mph combined collision, I was doing about 15 and he was doing 25. Everyone walked away unhurt, thankfully. The Volvo still runs and drives believe it or not, the only damage mechanically was to the battery which ended up being chopped up by the fan. The other car (nissan sunny) was crumpled up like tinfoil. Certainly made me appreciate the build quality!
The driver's door is good as far as I'm aware, I haven't clapped eyes on the car since it came back from the assessors yesterday so hopefully they haven't run a forklift through the door or anything. It's got 22 years worth of average wear on the paint but no deep scratches/dents/rust that I'm aware of, £20 sound reasonable? I honestly don't know when I'll find time to remove it, maybe this weekend or maybe next. |

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, hope you are OK.
You may remember I collected a roof rack for my 740 from you some time ago. All the best Doug |

I've just noticed the (rather apt) message on the brake light.

Thought somebody would Quite funny now looking at it.
Like others have said, it had a good run and it did it's job in the end, TBH I'm not vastly upset it's dead. I bought it for £300, and the insurance company's giving me £750 for it and the car back, I've already salvaged most of the go-fast bits I put on and now I can buy a 240 with less rust and the right injection system for the turbo engine as well. |
