I did 180 miles from Portsmouth to London, roof down, 55mpg. Cruise control all the way! My first ever post 😊

Quick update. Car is now on 94K, so done about 35k with the remap. No more problems, had to replace some bushes at the front but that's it. Average lifetime economy is 43.49mpg and total running costs including every consumable, tax, insurance and servicing stands at 26p a mile.

Thanks for the update, much appreciated. Wish I had the guts to do mine, alas it's too late for me ;-)

No, but the car has done nearly 80,000 mile now so too much of a risk for me. I've had enough niggles with it, so any self inflicted problems would see me not responsible for my actions ;-)

Reading this makes me wish I'd bought a manual C70 D5 now. I wouldn't risk remapping a Geartronic one as Volvo detuned the D5 engine slightly because the auto gearbox couldn't reliably handle it's torque output in standard trim, so adding power (& torque) would be inviting trouble IMO.

There would be a different mapping loaded to the engine ECU to create the difference in the peak torque, surely? One of the ECU inputs would have to be the gear that the 'box currently has selected, but that's definitely available as it's displayed on the dash.

The later D4 cars have the 6 speed box and are not limited to 350NM of torque. I personally would be reluctant to remap any Volvo with this 5 speed box. |

3.5 years later and the car is on 130k miles. Covered 70k post remap, and used the extra power extensively particularly for in-gear flexibility on the motorway.
I'm sure the remap causes more soot output so it'll be interesting to see when the DPF gives up the ghost. Economy holding steady at 43mpg ish average.
