Default Replacing the instrument cluster (correcting mileage)

Hello!

I have a 97' V70 2.5 TDI and it has that older type of instrument cluster (with lambda light instead of "check engine").

Right now it's sadly not multifunctional, which means the lower display only shows the time and outside temperature.

Now I found out that they sell the multifunctional one for 15€ in Lithuania (https://rrr.lt/en/used-part/ust86088...rument-cluster) - you can see the picture of it here: https://shorturl.at/hEGNV.

This multifunctional one also shows the average speed, fuel mileage etc.

Now is time for the question/problem:

Is this replacement rather a simple job or does it needs some kind of special tools?
Also a friend told me that you don't have to replace the whole cluster, but only the lower display block or something and it should work like that. Is that true?
And for the final question: if the mileage for my car is 300 000 km and not 395 722 km like the one has, then is it possible to correct that by computer or is it rather impossible?

Thanks!

What you are calling multifunctional means that it has a computer. It's not something that is a quick swap over as it has to be integrated with all of the rest of the cars electronics, including the ECU's.

So it's rather very difficult to replace as I have to find a new ECU and it also needs a reprogramming?

You also need the dash switch that turns the display to the different functions and possibly the wiring loom although that may already be there.
