I have a V60 T8 based car not the XC90 so not 100% sure but certainly on the V60 you should have lights around the charging port on the car, hopefully these are working and it's just the charger.

WRT to the charger - assuming your charger has a normal 3 pin plug on one end I would expect it should have a set of lights on the top of the "box". If you're not getting any lights at all and assuming the socket you're plugging it into I could only think to try the fuse.

Even when not connected to the car I get a light on the charger (blue I think).

The one thing I did notice when charging off a 3 pin charger was that I wasn't able to use a plug in RCD.

My supplied charger goes through a start up sequence and the two lights flash different colours. Does yours show anything when plugged into the wall?

Sounds like the charger is goosed. I assume you have checked that the plug is live and all OK?

Garages tend to give out all sorts of b******* about chargers, like they have to be on a dedicated spur, not on a ring main, not on an extension etc..... but basically all it is is a very high drain appliance. Like a kettle. So if your house is wired properly you can plug it in anywhere and it should work. Just be aware it is going to draw close to 13amps and do so for about 3 hours. So if you use it on the same ring as the iron, kettle and toaster then you might trip the 32amp breaker.

But back to the matter in hand. If no lights and the socket is definitely good then the charger is knackered.

Just also checking, do you have a light on the car socket? Think it is blue, then yellow when you plug something in. Then if it charges OK it goes to pulsing green.....

If you are thinking of keeping the car then a PODPoint or similar is quite neat and not too pricey with the government subsidy. Mine was about 300 quid all in for a 16amp one and sits very neatly on a post at the edge of the drive. It also runs off it's own dedicated 16amp breaker in the garage fuse board and runs through a small sub-meter which shows me how much electric I have used. I went for a tethered cable podpoint as the charging cable sits very neatly on the unit and it is very simple to plug in the car.

Mine is very similar. Attached to the outside of my garage, but I did not go for the tethered option. Similar price.
