On Saturday I decided to remove the rear wiper arm to reposition it as it was resting on the channel at the bottom edge to the glass. I loosened the nut and put the wiper arm removal tool on and cranked the handle and the arm came off after a bit of persuasion. What I didn't realise was the rear washer jet protruded from the centre spindle and the pressure of the removal tool snapped it. A check online took me to Youtube and a chap removing his broken jet. He put a screw into the plastic remnants that were stuck in the brass tube and he pulled the entire brass tube which goes through the motor to the hose connection. He then had to dismantle the motor to sort it.

I didn't fancy having to dismantle the tailgate and decided to use a 1.5mm drill bit then a 2mm drill bit to open up the aperture and weaken the grip the plastic had on the brass tube. I then used screw of a suitable size to easily pull the remaining part of the jet out. So today's job is to put the new jet in...

Fitted the rear washer jet which was simple enough as I hadn't damaged the brass tube when removing the old one. One thing to be aware of if anyone is doing this is that once the jet has been pushed in as far as possible it will need pushed further until the brass tube end butts up to the shoulder of the jet

Brass tube in centre of motor spindle

Jet pressed in by hand. I applied a small dab of silicon grease to the shoulder of the jet body to assist with installation

Jet in correct position. I used a soft faced hammer to tap the jet fully home

Jets adjusted, cover fitted and job completed

Your used cars have always listed for less.
I imagine the 'better' (MOT) a vehicle is, the more it'd cost.

In Dec. 2016 I paid $10,000 for a well cared for specimen with 69K miles. It came with an unnoticeable small scrape (right rear) and dents in the roof from amateurish carrying of bicycles with padding.
Nowhere was paint broken.
I did get a new Volvo battery and 4 new mid-line tires in the deal.

With so few around, any seller knew your desires.

Paid my VED this morning and went out for a wee drive to run a few errands. Had to fuel up before I left so the obligatory filling station picture.
The cashier behind the counter did give me a funny look...

I thought I was being organised when I removed the original number plates to make way for my personal plate. I cleaned the paintwork, bought the sticky pads and put my personal plates on the car ready for this morning as I had expected to be able to transfer the number straight away once the V70 was taxed but the DVLA have a different outlook on us mere mortals and I can't change them over until my road tax is showing online. I had to stick the old plates on top of my personal plates. Those who know, know is quite appropriate now

Driving back from England to my home in Scotland last week after I purchased the car and I was about 4 hours into the journey when I noticed the volume control on the steering wheel wasn't working and I thought, 'oh shoot that's going to be expensive to fix' Anything electrical that stops working when hot is always a PITA to rectify. Next morning I went out expecting it to have cooled down and back to normal, but it wasn't the steering wheel control buttons were all dead as a dodo. After a few checks I noticed button 2 & 3 on the radio fascia was stuck in so I got a needle and started poking around the perimeter and it popped out and the steering wheel buttons started working again. Detective hat on I discovered the cup holder had the remnants of dried sticky drink which had spilled, closer examination of the buttons also showed the same sticky remains of something that had spilled. I tried cleaning the button area with isopropyl and a tooth brush but whatever was spilled was now rock hard and didn't want to move. I got the thinnest needle my wife had in her sewing basket and spent about two hours scraping away at the void between the fascia surround and buttons 2 and 3 and eventually the gunge gave way and the buttons work as they should. Not sure if it would have been any easier to remove the radio, dismantle it, clean it and then put it all back together and zip it all up again

oh well.. 'why worry'

if 'your latest trick' is removing and refitting the head unit then (no but seriously..) don't unplug the AC unit with the battery connected, you'll throw a SRS fault

unless you have VIDA in which case 2 minute job to reset

they are pretty decent systems though eh, has yours got the amp under the seat
