Default Recommendations? - Tyres for XC60 R-Design 18"

Hi All,

My first post, sorry if this has already been discussed.

Proud and happy owner of a 2016my XC60 R-Design Lux FWD, with 18" alloys.

Ideally am looking for ride comfort as have severe spinal issues. Ideally low noise and economic.

Not worried if 'AT' or pure 'Road' tyre tread versions.

Can I do a small increase in tyre profile height?

Many thanks.

My initial thought when I read your post was - why would someone with severe spinal issues buy an R-Design.....??

However, leaving that aside, I don't think it matters much which brand of tyre you get for comfort, simply because the primary factors affecting comfort are surely the profile and suspension?

In terms of the small increase in tyre profile height - I wouldn't - firstly, it would change the rolling radius and therefore your speedo wouldn't be calibrated correctly (appreciating most are already out anyway); secondly, I would have thought it could invalidate your insurance; thirdly, it would also probably affect handling.

Have you considered asking Volvo to adjust the suspension? Or alternatively, fit a different suspension kit completely (Koni, Eibach)?
