Wow….

Never in my lifetime did I think I would hear an ex Range Rover owner tell us his Volvo wasn’t refined enough, well built enough or reliable enough!

Range Rovers are shockingly built, massively unreliable and come bottom or near bottom of just about every single used car survey out there.

I’ve owned one Range Rover in my life and will never own another, it was utter rubbish. My Volvo is twice the car the Range Rover was and I will happily stick with Volvo from now on, this car is so good in every way.

I think he's deluded and is just here to moan. I've got a few friends with Range Rovers, they're overpriced crap to be honest, constantly in the garage.

Inside every XC owner is an S90 owner screaming to get out.

No I'm here to learn about the car I drive. I've done something like a million miles in Range Rovers - had loads of them over a 20 year period - never been stranded by one (or by a Jag since the 1980s) but have suffered niggly issues with some of them. But they're joyous things to drive with wonderful refinement unlike my hum-drum bone-shaking XC90. Which I keep saying is a perfectly nice car but boring and a bit cheap feeling despite costing over 70 grand new.

This is what happens when people listen to the motoring media too much, I ran Vauxhalls for a long long time but the MM said I shouldn't, I always ended up with a car that didn't cost too much and hardly ever saw a ramp, granted they do have their weak points like the M32 gearbox and they do like a bit more juice than some others but I never had one that needed as much oil as diesel between services like that premium brand VW offering I had, nor did I ever have one shoot a turbo at 50k or need special oil as such, for 30 years I got it so wrong I only wish I'd listened to the motoring media.

FWIW I agree that even 70k for an XC90 is horrific let alone near 100k but as usual if they will pay it they will charge it.

Indeed, cruise on a motorway in a Vauxhall Senator, or Vauxhall Insignia - both quieter and more comfortable than the XC90 despite being perceived as budget cars in their class. A plumber friend of mine did 540,000 miles in his Astra 1.7D van on the original engine before the head gasket finally let go - as long as you change the cam belt and water pump every 3 years (quite a cheap job) those 1.7Ds simply go on forever, it went through two gearboxes in that period which is perfectly acceptable. Issues with VWs are legendary, failing oils pumps, failing transmissions, failing injectors, engine wiring looms - general electrical problems - and every time you turn up at a dealer the look of faux surprise as they pretend you are the first person to ever experience this problem even though it's the 5th one that day.

Agree with you they should be there but are not. The thing I dont understand is how it can be designated on reg docs as a 'PRO' version when its only an R-Design with some extras?
My V90CC always appears as a Pro when I enter the registration number onto insurance websites, or when looking for tyres etc, so was obviously registered as a Pro when new.
It has quite a few optional extras, but is most definitely not a Pro.
I can’t say it has ever worried me, so I have never bothered doing anything about it.

All a bit random and unhelpful. The OP was specifically asking how to define a in V90 Pro spec Volvo.

Just ignore him, I do, he’s only joined to main and tell us how crap Volvo cars are and how not being able to drive like a muppet around the country at more than 112mph is travesty.

Is the easiest way to determine between a pro (plus) / non- pro (plus) spec
I've got them, but mine isn't a pro...but then again I've got an S90, not a V.

In fact, reading this thread I'm not sure what I've got. I've got stitching into the top of the dash and door trim, on call, rear camera, heated steering wheel. I don't think I've got all the fancy light things and have 18s .... Hmmm ah well. I will get some 20s at some point and now that I've got the Android auto, dashcam, and polestar from my dealer whilst still paying the lower tax, I'm happy...
