For the long term, put some poisoned mouse bait on top of the engine, and also somewhere inside the car. Mice will leave droppings all over your engine if they settle in, which is difficult to remove, and they may also start to eat bits.

I had a 1999 V70 AWD which was fine before it stood for a few years, but when I put it back on the road it had a left front wheel bearing that had a huge click.
No signs of that before it had stood. I replaced it and it was definitely clicking on rotation.

Keep an eye on damp inside the car, because mould will kick in too.

Grew up in post war West London and my Mother had a Morris 8. It was one of only four cars in the street at that time. Fast forward thirty years and you would be lucky to find a parking space in the road. More than once had people park across the dropped kerb with my car trapped on our property!
