I haven't read all 6 pages so forgive me if this has been covered BUT....

I would be screwed then, i start work at 3am every day, i've been doing so for 8 years without ever having an accident on the way to work! I DID get run into on my way home once, a nice sunny AFTERNOON!

Discriminated against for my job? Well my company is happy to let me lose at 3am in 38 ton, £300,000 worth of vehicle, with upto 60,000 quids worth of load! Been doing that since i was 19.

What i don't get with these black boxes, they're monitoring the wrong thing, harsh braking, would they rather you HIT something? Yet there is NO WAY of the box knowing how many red lights a day you jump, how many cars you cut up, how many cyclists you run into the gutter. If you're hogging the middle lane, under taking, wrong lanes at islands and junctions. If you're tailgating, driving on the phone, messing with your radio/satnav/laptop or just generally being a knob!

Pure money making scheme!

Good points actually.Suppose the policyholder could still be a bad driver yet 'rewarded'

Volvo2002 have you any answers?

Wouldnt though say it was a money making scheme per se, as premiums for some younger and/or inexperienced drivers is reduced, which is good as it gets the person motoring at 'reasonable' cost

Regards

Yes, for the young driver, they're great at the moment. Although my self a few years ago totally useless!

But if they're going to become common place for all age groups, vehicles and use they will find a way to keep bumping things, a few quid here, a few quid there.

Another thing, one could be pulling a trailer, over weight, badly loaded, outside lane of the motorway at 70mph, Blackbox see's no problem! lol

8 years driving so a blackbox wouldn't make any sense for you...

Discriminated against for my job? Well my company is happy to let me lose at 3am in 38 ton, £300,000 worth of vehicle, with upto 60,000 quids worth of load! Been doing that since i was 19.

EDIT

Pure money making scheme!

Regarding your points on other habits, I agree they can't monitor that but can still determine how you drive normally. The only way to combat the other habits would be for a person to come with the policy who comes with you on every journey with a pad and pen ticking boxes..

Yes friends come with the box another reason to purchase this policy. Your bank balance will be noticeably higher and your social life will be on the up!

On another note, are the insurance companies prepared to use this device, should your car be stolen to inform the police as to its location?

Yes it doubles as a tracking device. Co-op have a number on their site to alert them if your car has been stolen and they engage the tracker to locate it

Received an email from Co-op today and apparently thanks to my driving I am entitled to a further discount on my £400 premium
