v70 x reg
Hi, Guys new to all this so hope im in the right section.
Have a v70 2.4 turbo x reg which was running fine till the other day, went out in the morning to start it, turned it over would run for around 8 seconds then die. try again after 5 mins and the same after around an hour it started and ran all day. did notice on dash alarm system service required but its not on all the time. last night went to car it turns over but wont start any ideas please |

I'd be guessing lack of fuel, clogged filter/iffy pump.
As asked above, how much fuel does the gauge show? |

It was a joke I think. If you have a look at the points and open them with a small screwdriver and see a spark..... Oh poo, wrong decade!
Seriously, the alarm error won't cause it, this is usually on because the siren is knackered, loads of threads on this. If it was an immobiliser issue, would see a message showing 'start prevented see manual' or similar. These cars can sometimes not start if they are low on fuel, possibly caused by a faulty fuel pick up in the passenger side of the tank or a partially blocked filter. |

When you touch the bleed nipple on the fuel rail plenty of fuel comes out so would that suggest fuel pump is ok ?

Also as said went out other morning and would not start turned over of around 10 seconds then died, this happened for around 45 mins then she started and ran all day fine. Evening go out and wont start |

Sounds like a loose or pin-holed return line, but thats maybe too 'old skool' given you have a self-bleeding pump.
From the little i've read on these they do need good 'within tolerance' injectors or fuel pressure is reduced to the extent of giving this symptom.... Fuel rail pressure reading using a dongle thingy will tell you if the tank pump is awake or not. Last edited by 4candles; Dec 6th, 2015 at 11:11. |
