Default Best Place to Buy ATF 3309

Hi,

Its time for me to to another Gibbons flush on the auto box.
Both previous flushes I used the Toyota branded fluid with no problems.
Now I am ready to buy the oil there seems to be countless brands of oil claiming to be ATF 3309 compliant.

Can anyone recommend where to get proven good ATF 3309 oil at a good price?

Thanks,
Bob

Post number 15 here:
https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...=279054&page=2

Myself I bought first trough USA amazon- original Mobil ATF3309, quite a while back.
It was some £40 for 12 quarts AND about £50 shipping.

After that I used this (however in 5ltr bottles):

Next I think I'll buy 20L at once. Works for last 2 years no probs, I went trough some 11 litres of it by now (sump dump method) and have enough for one more swap (3*5ltr bought)

Thanks Thomas,

The ebay link was exactly what I was searching for.

Ordered, and now to get all the pipes and measuring jugs out of the back of the garage.

OK. Maybe I'm in the wrong then.
I'm sure someone mentioned no drive in cold with certain oil and was going to change supplier.

Yo, ThomasG, I remember that fellow's post. It truly was a "one of" post as nobody had ever before or since posted anything like it.

You have to think some factor in that "cold misbehaving car" was overlooked.

For example: I'd assume a car novice would mistakenly add the transmission fluid to the engine oil before I'd consider a bad batch of Mannol fluid.
Really, the 3309 spec exists but the fluid is nothing special.

Indeed, has been used by many many people and that's the only negative I've ever seen, too. There was some talk over on UKSaabs Forum as to whether it was synthetic or mineral, but again, if it meets the spec, it meets the spec.

Back when "this all started"...and by that I mean when people like us failed to believe Volvo's fluid was the only one to use...someone leaked the info that it was Mobil 3309.
It took 5 years for the words, "3309" to appear on spec lists.
I asked at large parts warehouses; the kind which supply over a hundred shops and garages and only one had it in their "master catalog". The bloke was intrigued and read aloud that Mobil 3309 was indeed conventional not synthetic. He ordered some for me but called soon afterward to say it was not available.

The Valvoline MaxLife Dex/Merc LV, Wolf's Head Super Universal and PetroCanada's offering were all synthetic.

I assume Toyota T-IV is conventional. The case of Mobil 3309 I found had been purchased errantly by a parts store in Virginia. I bought the case and they gave me a deep discount just to get it out of their building. I know things like this don't happen in the UK so please, don't resent me.
