Default Stabilizer bar vs. Strut brace

For all of you good in physics,
Is the engine stabilizer bar a substitute for the strut brace?
Also, XC90 D5 comes with an engine stabilizer bar, while the 3.2 6 comes with none? Any reasons why? (attached images)

No, but it can be converted into one and I belive there is a kit for doing it. I havn't heard what effect it has on an XC90 though only the saloons and estates. I think I watched a youtube video of conversion once if I remember correctly.

Strut braces are usually fitted on performace cars though which with the best will in the world is hardly the role the XC90 was designed for.

The balance is better with the straight 6 petrol. The D5 vibrates and wobbles a lot more.

Attached is a photo of both, an engine stabilizer bar and a stut brace mounted in the same engine bay. In this case it is the 5 cylinder 2.5T.

Here is the the XC90 strut brace conversion kit I saw......http://www.vivaperformance.com/strut...onversion-kit/

Just read about the strut brace in the photo above that if it's fitted to an XC90 with an engine brace, the conversion kit needs to be fitted as well to avoid execess movement causing them to interfere with each other. Would have thought the conversion kit was OK on it's own.
