RE: Of course...
Sorry mate, but there is a mix-up here.
I don't have Andy's Volans, I have not spoken with him. I'd quite LIKE them... but that's another matter! If they are that important to you then I'm happy to step out of the loop and look elsewhere. Also, would I be advertising for some more 17s if I had a set already? Alastair |

Just to put the record straight.
Scouse,
I've checked and they went to someone called Lloyd and I'm sure that was not an alias. Happy hunting ;-) |

RE: Just to put the record straight.
I'm vaguely considering buying a set of 17" alloys and wandered why you dont either..
Buy a set of new aftermarket alloys. Which can be had with tyres from about £600. Some look very similar to the original Volvo designs especially if you fit the 'volvo' centre caps. Buy from the states. If 18" Pegs are £600 inc postage then 17" Volans or Titans should be cheaper. Mind if customs screw you for duty then it gets a bit expensive. Anyone got a price for Volans/Titans? Simon |

Simon - if I can jump in on Scouse's thread once more , since I'm also looking for 17s -
I'm a bit wary of aftermarket alloys, because I've heard suggestion that they aren't all as robust as Volvo's own. BBS I'm told would be OK, but I'm no expert in the area. Import from the States is quite a tempting idea... Customs would be sure to add a wedge though - VAT plus whatever the duty is on alloys! I would expect 17s to be a fair bit cheaper than 18s (speculation). Still thinking... Alastair |

One of the dealers is in Houston, Texas www.volvoofhouston.com
It surprises me how Volvo can see their way to screw us here and yet sell the kit in North America at such a price that we can get it back here by airfreight, pay the VAT and still end up nearly a third of the prices they have set for UK dealer sale. Most of Volvo's alloy wheels are made by BBS... so if you go for a BBS or similar quality you are OK. Some of the cheap aftermarket wheels are like many such items, made from cheap base material, but finished to look good in an accessory shop. They buckle when you just kiss a bump or a kerb. Lawnmowers
I had an experience with Honda where I was trying to buy a vehicle from the States (a Lawnmower I might add), and it was cheaper by far to import it than buy it in the UK.
However the people in the States refused to sell it to me because I was UK-resident, and told me to buy it here! Shocking. Alastair |

17s from the States
I have emailed Houston to ask the price of 17" Titans, and will post back here with the response.

RE: 17s from the States
A very good question Simon! I have no doubt that your Titans are in superb shape.
I want to see what the price is (delivered and VATed) from the States before making a decision. If I'm honest, £500-600 really is an upper limit (for which read, "a stretch") for me, so I'm hoping they come back with something a little lower. We'll see. Alastair |
