Funnily enough I contacted Vovlo of Houston at the end of last week about exactly the same thing. No reply yet though. I'll keep you informed if I hear anything.

If they turn round and say > £600 there is going to be a fight for Simon's :-)

Most of my emails to them bounced - not sure if any got through.

Will post back with any response.

I can't see that shipped and taxed 17s are actually going to be cheaper than Simon's set - it's just wishful thinking on my part!

Default Houston Volvo not shipping to the UK anymore

I have just rang Volvo Houston and they are no longer shipping to the UK.
The salesman said that the last 3 sets of wheels he sent were returned to him damaged. He has tried different shipping companies and bubble wrapped and boxed the wheels.
I find this very hard to believe as I have received numerous, much more fragile parts from the states without any problems. Maybe someone has put pressure on him not to sell overseas? Or does anyone here know about these damaged wheels?
He quoted a price of $397 for Titans and usually gave some extra discount also. Shipping, when he was selling them was "about couple of hundred bucks". I've just realised that I'm not sure if the $397 is for a set or each!!
I'll try ringing another Volvo dealer in the states tommorrow. Anyone recommend another dealer?

I'd ask on Brickboard for good dealers.

I got five anthracite 18'' Pegasus from Volvo Houston.

They came in the standard Volvo boxes and bubble wrap on the front faces. Each rim was touching the corner of the box in four places and was unprotected, consequently one of the rims had four 'dings' on the rim.

I did Email to see if the problem could be resolved but they never replied. Not a problem as that is the spare and I only paid £600 for the five, no duty, no VAT ;) :)

Jammy sod. My credit card would be out like a shot at that price. Someone let his tyres down to get that smug grin off his face!

:-)

Bridgestone SO3's are 50% more expensive than PZeros at £150 a corner, with a life of no more than 6k miles on the front I think I'm paying for the 'cheap' alloys with expensive rubber- swings and roundabouts!!

But SO3's are SO good...

There must be another US dealer out there willing to ship to the UK, don't give up. If you ever go to the States on holiday get them shipped to the hotel you're staying at and then ship them back home. I did that with UK made Aquamist water injection and saved about £80 over the UK price.

I Had 4 peg's from Houston, They came in standard boxes with no other protection, of them 3 had dings on them but 2 dissapeared when the tires where fitted and only 1 still shows. It's not perfect for new alloys but they are not bent and a hell of a lot cheaper. Unfortunately I did get stung for import duty though :o(. I don't know who complained? In an ideal world if it's new it should arrive new but surely there is a compromise when you are saving so much money and they are not bent???

There is another dealer in houston who was prepared to ship to the UK, can't remember the name now. Do a search on Google, any where in US should be cheaper than here?

this is a bit worrying as i've also had 4 graphite pegs shipped from houston and would of gone back to them if i ever broke one or needed a spare!!!

the plonker who complained should be shot as all of mine had minor chips on the rims but got covered by the tyre, i bet they didn't even check to see this before sending them back and having a moan!!
