Get a good stage zero, replace the sensors - prob get you a bit extra there, unless you turbo it you'll be a bit limited with N/A tuning, a good CAIS would no doubt help though.

That's good to know

My local Volvo Indie has an N Reg 960 3.0 auto for sale at £900; it's mint too!

Sadly, I can't afford to run a second car at the moment, otherwise I'd have had it in a shot!

It's a lovely engine, I had one in V90 guise. Lots of smooth grunt. No turbo though so I guess difficult to tweak easily.

You can get upto 300 bhp out of this engine by changing a few things like the exhaust.the downpipe and full exhaust can net you upto 40 bhp easy because the standard exhaust sucks.and then it is possible to fit a BMW manifold onto that engine too and that nets another 40 bhp and chip it .if you look under turbobricks under frp85 he gives a full lowdown on what to do .

There used to be a Swedish Volvo tuner called Haas. They made a limited series of the so called "GH964". I think there were 3 or max 4 built. Someone I know has exactly one of these cars. They have around about 260-270 hp without doing much. More important is the torque gain. From former 267 nm it is around 310 nm (which is a turbodiesel standard!).

They changed the cams and the exhaust. The exhaust has equal-length exhaust headers and a slightly altered ECU. The automatic is the same but the final gear in the differential has been changed. Iirc instead of 3.73 it is a 3.54 as the gain in power is instantly feelable.

I would have a custom built exhaust system including manifold that should free up around 60 bhp and loads more torque too.i cannot remember what BMW header it was but it still had to be welded though

Default turbobricks

Have a look at Steve's 1998 V90 build onTurbobricks and then the Poi's and the V9000 build threads. The 770bhp Amazon estate has a B6304 with a big turbo on I think. Alsao have a look at savar turbo site, using chrome to auto translate.
