Caravan towing and my pin 11 confusion
I have bee reading about caravan wirng but I have found it difficult to see exactly where we are.
I have just fitted a Witter towbar and have been testing my Volvo 13pin wiring kit before fitting it as I have been reading about pin 11 permanant supply issues. Sure enough Pin 11 does not appear to be connected to anything that my multimeter can find. Volvo 2004 instructions show pin 11 as not used (last page): http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/pdf/Towb...ics13Pin-2.pdf but the latest 2011 instructions clearly show it as wired at instruction 13: http://accessories.volvocars.com/Acc...3010-1/NOTHING I have also read about retro fitting pin 11 wire but how? The 13pin plug is fully sealed and I would regret having to break that seal although I would much prefer to do this work before it is fitted to the car. I am also a little concerned about pin 13 earth - the white cable taped to the trailer loom - and pin 9 live feed as it is are 25amp and should thus be 2.5mm wire. It is nothing like that big. I should add that the 15amp pin 10 & 11 cable are also much smaller than I would have expected How have others got |

Hi, I have a 13 pin fitted to my 850. It has a permanent live to run the fridge internal lights and loo flush from the car battery. My van has no leisure battery, which is the norm' here. Two of the pins are 'bridged ' together, pins 9 & 13 ring a bell. I have a wiring diagram in the ban, I'll look it out for you

Well I have fitted it to the car - including the white taped on earth half way up the cable - and it all works. The pin 11 earth must be hidden in one of the large plugs rather than the separate earths.
Thanks for the help. |
