Default Volvo Bluetooth

Hi all,

I was wondering if somebody could give me some advice,

I've recently bought a 2010 Volvo v70 r design which has phone buttons but says 'car is not equipped with phone' Has anybody else managed to get the Volvo Bluetooth to work? As it has phone buttons, does that mean the car is prewired for a phone?

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks.

YES! that was a mistake , they shouldn't have fitted the button , you do not have a built in phone but may have a Bluetooth interface to use you own mobile phone .

I've a 2013 V70, & it pairs fine with Bluetooth phones (I've no 'built in' phone).

I was wondering though if the car is prewired and is just missing the Bluetooth module? If it is I'll but one off eBay, if not then I'll have to get an aftermarket kit. I read somewhere that r design spec cars came prewired

Thanks.

Hi,

As far as I am aware, there are two interfaces. There is the built in phone - for which you will have a sim slot in the glove box and maybe also a built-in handset in the front armrest.

Then there is the bluetooth interface for which you will have a separate bluetooth controller dangling somewhere, hopefully stuck semi-permanently on the dash near the driver.

Hi,

The factory mic should be roughly where the forward courtesy lights/sunroof control unit is. I suspect that this will be the case for both built-in and the bluetooth varieties.

You would also likely have a menu item in the centre control options thing.

Hi,
There are 2 type of Bluetooth interface.
One is ( as Des said) factory, the other is aftermarket although genuine Volvo.

The aftermarket one is most common on pre '13 cars, and will have a separate control pad, usually mounted on the console south of the other buttons.

The factory one is driven by the options under the menu key. The full phone kit has a sim card holder in the glove box, and a handset in the cc.

It has always annoyed me that every car has the phone symbol and the 1234567890*# keys as standard.

Just as sneaky is the rear parking sensor disable switch. You get one regardless of whether you car has the option. Grrr!.

Default V70 210 Bluetooth

I have a 2010 V70 R design and was disappointed to find that there was NO Bluetooth function with mine unless ordered when the car was new. I was amazed that a quality car did not come off the production line with Bluetooth.
I fitted a Parrot unit which works brilliantly.
