Default McGard locking wheel nut stripped

The pattern on the nut head has stripped and with the spinning outer ring on the nut I can't get purchase with an undersized socket.
Anyone had any joy getting these off??

If the wheel nut is ok you can get your dealer to undo them with the volvo master kit , or go straight to McGuard with a good picture of the shape and they will send you a new key ..

If you have damaged the nut then a special carbide drill set will be need .

I've welded a long bolt onto the stud before today to undo them, you're alright as long as Hercules hasn't tightened them

I've had the same with the McGard socket on a Nissan. The wheel nuts were on so tight that the socket stripped. If you've got the codes, you can buy a replacement on the McGard.de website and, from my 2 experiences, they deliver within days.

Smile Another idea

I had a similar problem many years ago with those locking nuts, appreciate you just need to get the nut undone as replacing them for something else is the way forward, but what i did was to use a putty called Quic steel, mixed it up and pushed it into the locking key then press that into the broken locking nut.. wait some time and heat if poss to ensure it cures as much as possible then try cranking the nut off, it worked for me and might get you out of trouble..
