New to D5 engine...couple of questions.
Hi all im the process of buying a 2006 xc70 D5 185 manual which has just turned 200k miles.
I'm new to D5's but already have a 2000 v70xc 2.4t auto that turned 160k today. I have a couple of D5 questions. 1. what is the recommended belt change interval on the D5? 2. What engine oil grade do i use? 3. What is the oil capacity? 4. Can u use the same sump plug washer as the 2.4t engines? 5. How do I check manual gearbox oil and it's level? Ta

Belt change is 95k but 80k is advisable.
Oil is 0w30 A5/B5, 6 litres (around 2/3 on dipstick). Gearbox oil, if concerned about it (rightly so) get straight 75w or 75w80 synthetic gear oil from volvo or a big manufacturer (fuchs/motul/gulf make extremely good gear oil) and put back what came out (measure it in jugs) unless there is evidence of a big leak and you drain much less than 80-90% of its stated capacity, in which case, providing the car wasnt tilting away from drain plug when drained, put in 90% of its capacity when sure youve drained what you possibly can. |
