I gotta be honest - I don't like that cyclops dashboard at all! It looks like the hi-fi designers of the '90s (y'know, the ones who are obsessed with symetry) have been re-employed. I'm more used to facing two orbs frontally, but that's just my persuasion. :-)
That would get ripped out and replaced with real instruments immediately. Colour? Green. |

Performance without high contrast for me. Once you get used to the big speedo numbers it's difficult to go back.

The speedo on the other modes is pretty useless and the rev counter just looks naff. It'd also be nice if the display was wider to include the fuel and gear gear indicator |

Ususally the Eco one because I like the green background. Can't figure out the point of the economy meter though. Use the performance one where 1 mph can make a difference, such as in Motorway roadworks and 20mph zones. Bizarrely.

Performance by a long way. Partly because on my previous car I got used to the speed as big numbers right in the middle and at work I'm used to scanning for speed as a displayed number, not on a traditional speedo... that may come into it.
I also just prefer the rev sweep rather than on the side. I've tried them all and elegant as a second.. I like playing around with the white arc on adaptive cruise to 'learn' where the car will start to pick up and want to adjust as you catch up on traffic. Second I'm done with that game it is straight onto Performance. Eco I don't bother with as I don't drive it an eco friendly manner!

I find the red performance mode too garish (although it's the only mode with an accurate rev counter)... Elegance for me!

I too find the performance theme a bit XR3i for my liking.... however I really wish there was a separate option to have the speed in digits at the centre of the speedo just as you can on the infotainment display - I have this on my V40 with poverty instruments and find it really useful.
I'm really surprised Volvo only offer the 3 themes and you can choose from a variety - even if that was chargeable.

Performance because you need to see the exact speed at a glance because of the speedcameras that are everywhere in Sweden.
