It's a new XC90 Momentum D5! Purchased Sept 2015, 6000 miles on the clock. Why the doubts?

Hi Roy

Since you quoted my post in full in your reference to not having a new XC90 I assume you think I'm the one who chose the wrong forum, not the OP?

I'm not sure whether by 'new' you mean a 2nd generation XC90 or a vehicle where I'm the first owner/driver. In my case the answer to both is 'yes'. I've got a 2nd gen XC90 ordered late August 2015 and delivered mid-January 2016.

What was it I said that made you think I perhaps had a 1st gen? I've re-read my post and can't spot the giveaway. Is there some strange turn of phrase that only 1st gen owners use? Is there a secret password I need to acquire in order to be accepted as a bona fide 2nd gen'er?

Regards

Walter

I meant jayhartdoc but I think that was a mistake looking at it again.

I read too quickly and picked up this signature on the way....

No worries. Back to the thread. The dealer said the battery charge level was normal despite the warning light coming on so reset a module and reset the auto stop/start. Let's hope that solves the issue.

It would be interesting to know what the specified standby drain is and what the actual drain is on these cars suffering low battery voltage.
Do any technicians on here know?

Default Spoke too soon - Low Battery Warning

Weeks after my post - tonight low battery warning on start up, and shutdown after a short trip. Interestingly over the weekend wife tried her passenger heated seat again and it turns off after a very short period - low battery warning again - really beginning to wonder if the 2 are connected.

Fingers crossed starts in the morning - disconcerting and poor for a vehicle of this value. Will have to contact dealer again and loose another day travelling to dealer and waiting for someone to press reset in the hope it resolves no doubt.

Bad news, nvh28uk.

The more I read of the enormous spread of issues - some minor, some not so - that people are having with the XC90, the more I'm convinced that the total software package in this car is very badly integrated. Individually, certain software teams have maybe tested their own modules and functions, but when it comes to proving out all the interactions between them, there's something that just doesn't convince me.

I'd almost bet my own money that if you and jayheartdoc had your batteries (sorry, your cars' batteries!) tested you'd find voltage, current and capacity entirely up to spec. But somewhere in all these thousands of lines of code that must be in this model, there's a little binary digit getting set and latched, and that's causing warning lamps to come on, or seat heaters to go off, or ...

I'm beginning to think we've got Volvo's equivalent of Vista as an o/s in this car. Come on Sweden, roll out an upgrade, but this time get it right.

I don't know about the XC90 but, as an indication, my Merc which is stuffed with similar electronics draws typically 60mA when fully asleep. This can take up to 30 mins after locking the car.

A known problem is for one or more of the systems not to go to sleep properly which then runs down the battery,
