Sorry completely OT but what I hate more are the cars that have that as a grey plastic trim that goes all the way around the arch, it's probably good to stop rust but looks ugly as sin.

Thanks All
I'm staggered by the cost to be honest. I did a pretty fair job of a repair to my own S90's bumper just a couple of months back for less than £20, using a rattle can, some emery paper, a bit of body filler and some elbow grease. I guess the moral of the story is don't bump into anyone, and if you do then don't own up to it! Cheers Jack |

Accidents happen, no ones hurt and it cost a small sum of money (clearly no one wants to pay 240 however). Have a beer, move on and consider yourself lucky. He won’t be going to an insurance type place for that money, it’s peanuts for bodywork. |

If it was me, I would have got to the cash machine pronto and settled up before he changed his mind. I would also have given him £20 extra for his troubles and a comment 'hope there are no hard feelings'. You /your missus has had a lucky scrape.

I'd be looking to have something in writing though that this was a one off final payment & not accepting liability for anything else, doesn't have to be anything fancy just a quick note, stating that this is a first & final payment without prejudice for the repair of bumper as requested by the owner.

That is about the going rate for pro paintwork.
In the long run with minor damage you are best off with a cash settlement rather than going through insurance. As suggested above put something in writing to cover yourself. |

Thanks All. A "Without Prejudice" letter complete with cheque and "full and final, without admission of liability" sentence will be sent by recorded delivery tomorrow.
To be clear, we're happy to take responsibility, but I was a bit taken aback that such an insignificant scuff would cost so much to repair. But if that is a fair price then so be it. Thanks to everyone for the comments and advice. Cheers Jack |
