Default Window tint spec

Hi, does anyone know the % for the factory spec rear window tint? I’m thinking of adding at an idenpendant and they are advising from 5% (very dark) to 70% (light). I’d like to get as close to standard as possible and avoid the drug dealer look! 😉

Default Window tints

When considering window tints I would check the legal regulations.
It could be that the regulation that the tint must allow 70% of all available light to pass through is still in force.

No idea but it will be neare the 70% than the 5%. Some police forces have a machine to measure the amount of light passing through the tint so be carful.

Do not go too dark as there are circumstances when pulling out from some junction you need to look through the rear side windows to see oncoming traffic even at night but particularly at dusk when it is starting to go dark but the oncoming traffic may not have their headlights on.

There is no legal limit for rear passenger or cargo area tinting.
Not sure that Volvo release the tint percentage, as it varys across the range.
For example the factory XC60 tint I have is the equivalent of the V70 factory tint with Volvo fitted shades.
Ideally if there's an XC60 owner with tints near you, that can go with you to the tinting specialist you are thinking of using.

Don’t forget to let your insurance company know if you go ahead with it.
