Appreciated Phil, yes I am not expecting it to be an easy solution but , the next step is definitely the fuel pump and relevant electronics. I.e get pump running and sendind to fuel line. ( at least to the fuel filter ). I will try the trick you outlined and will see how i get on . Did not get much done today , very early All blacks game! . I been tackling other cosmetic areas like body rust and wheels and catching up on some CIS reading yesterday. Also trying to understand K-Jetronic a bit more found this old tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4fJAfXYxWk.
Will update as i progress regards Don

it covers, Idle knob, Control pressure regulator, aux airflow valve, fuel distributor, thermal switch and last the Air flow sensor. I am not sure what this but can see a rubber pouch under the Octapus manifold close to the airfilter duct and distributor. I have more pic and video of the CIS on FB page regards Don

Good News ! the fuel pump runs! So now I need to find a way to energize the fuel pump relay and test if power get to the fuel pump power lead and eventually turns the pump when the Starter Motor engages. Attach pic of fuel pump test . Also found infor on where the airflow sensor connector location is. will give it a try tomorrow . rgds Don

Can't seem to get a screw driver to unhook metal pin around the plug socket to release the plug, too low and close to the block. Spent almost two hours and still no joy , put it all back and will try again . Planned test is to disconnect this airflow sensor electrical connector and check if ext fuel pump works. Attach fault finding pic today . regards Don

Today I started again by removed the obstructive hoses and cables to disconnect this "tricky" air flow sensor buried under the airflow unit and after couple of attempts it was successful. I assumed the connector had the same locking pin as the Control pressure Regulator connected but not the case. it comes out fine! see pic with a blue 2 pin socket. Connected the battery and still no sound of the fuel pump running. ( with the Airflow sensor still disconnected ) I then started going thru the next stage of CI fault tracing steps A4-A5. At A5 test ( No input voltage to the main fuel pump Y cable in the boot, so I went back to A4 test , fuse test again ( the fuse 7 !!) . I short circuited fuse 7 and yep !!! its music to the ears , ext fuel pump running. Even though the clock works ( fuse 7, 16A ) , there wasn't sufficient clear contact at the fuse end to send enough power to the fuel pump. A bit of more cleaning and trying it couple of time , I was satisfied and i put the fuse 7 back and the air flow sensor connector. Next , the fuel flow system tests. I did the following for this test 1. Got another 10liters of fuel and added 1/2 bottle of WYnn's Fuel Injector cleaner. ( I did this at the start of my fault finding so it gave time to circulate in the system as i was testing the fuel pump. 2. Total 30 liters ( 1/2 tank now ) 3. Shook the car to create more fuel pressure in the tank 4. Started test D3-D5 ( Air Induction System Test ), checked all air hoses and made sure no loose ones/clamps or gaps. After 3 attempts The Swedish Dragon Started breathing Fire !!!, It started and blow lots of crap at the exhaust ( rusted bits from the exhaust system, and all the dust hidden. It does not idle well , expected ! and just below 1000rpm its rough but sounds good between 1500-3000. Did not take it more the that . Also the Oil Pressure light on the dash started coming alive when you shut the engine. Ran it for 10 minutes until Normal operating temperature, to see what is leaking. ( some green coolant under the lower Radiator hose. ( will change all of this ). Checked the water temperature , coolant reservoir , engine oil . Interesting very clean exhaust fume. Called it a day and had a well deserved ale! I will close this thread and will continue on the progress on this new FB page https://www.facebook.com/volvo.ovlov.165 My thanks to Phil and Penninepullman for their valuable advice . That all folks and attach final pic of the startup of the 264GL that was dormant for 15 years !! until today. What a machine PRV B27E1 !! Rgds Don

Just a quick update. The Idle and warm start issues may have been fixed now. Its mainly with vacuum hose leaking , and replacing new ignition leads , rotors and distributor cap. i put a note on the https://youtu.be/zta0p80VMak video
