If you can say what the distributor part number is that might help the experts to advise us all. Even if the result is to confirm the correct distributor.

If it is a distributor problem, perhaps there is a fault.

The trouble with the wrong distributor theory is that you have received so many different rotor arms. That's weird.

And I'm not sure, do you have a rotor arm that worked OK before all this trouble began? Which one was that?

Have you tried the part number Clan mentioned? I think it was post 5.

Do you have someone nearby with the same spec engine to try their rotor arm?

Hi Stephen,

yes, the rotor on the car at the moment works fine - but is getting to the end of it's life, hence the need for the change. That's the rotor in the images (on the right).

I have asked Volvo through two dealers I've used before using the correct part number - the problem is they can't see what the rotor looks like before they order it - as they only have the Volvo parts catalogue with line drawings - and the numbers on the rotor arm I have don't match up with the Volvo part number. They did mention there were a number of possibilities.

Have you tried Brookhouse Volvo? They've enver let me down and if they do their customer service is brilliant.

Hope that helps

Alex
