So the news from volvo is.. The connection between the ecm and bcm was missing so they reloaded the software on the ecm and bcm and its fixed the issue.

Apparently the ecm is prone to water ingress which causes most of the issues. I asked if there was a way of protecting from this and they said there may be an updated seal kit for it.. Failing that, if it went bad in a big way then a new ecm would be required.. Which I'm assuming wouldn't be covered by volvo.. I did ask if I could just go and seal this kit up and they said there is a pressure sensor in the ecm which needs to be exposed to normal atmosphere pressure and sealing unit may cause an issue.

Thoughts?

Default Anti Skid Service fixed

Hi had my "Anti skid Service Required" appear last summer. I took it to Volvo who confirmed it was the ABS pump control module. I phone around for options to get it fixed. Volvo was asking £900 for a recon unit supply and fit, a Volvo specialist was asking £500 for a recon unit supply and fit or £400 if my own unit was taken out and sent away for overhaul. this I was told would take over a week.
I got on the net and called around for a price to overhaul the part. The best I could find was from a company based in Derby called ECUtesting.com. They quoted £160+vat. This included return postage. However there are only certain pumps that can be repaired so they wanted to know the model of the pump. This can only be found on the pump itself (volvo used a lot of manufacturers).
We took out the battery to access the pump/module and got the code. It was a ATE mk60 10.0206-0226.4 commonly fitted to Mazda, Volvo, Ford VW/Audi/Skoda and Mercs.
I waited for a dry Saturday and stripped the pump off my Volvo.
I put in the post on Sunday (£20 Parcelforce) it arrived at the shop on monday afternoon. I got it back from ECUtesting one week later and connected it back up. I started the car up and the dash message was gone. The breaks were full of air so had to be bled. I couldn't be bothered doing this myself so I nursed it down to the mechanic around the corner. He charged me £88 to check my work, bleed the breaks and top up the fluid. It took him just over an hour.

So, all sorted for £313 and a little bit of swearing
£20 postage
£208 ecu testing
£88 mechanic

Hi scubasteve..could you tell me where about the "cem" is?..it looks like ive got the same issue as yourself...ive had water ingression via gaps on sides of the bonnet which are now sealed with a kit but ive got the ASSR light intermittently coming on and a list full of error codes on vida, all the same as yours, so I thought I'd have a look at cleaning off the oxidation but I don't know where to look for the "cem"...if you or anyone else could direct me to this, the help would be much appreciated....cheers.

Have a S40 2.0s that I brought in Dec 15, day I picked it up had this issue but also would quickly change to Brake Failure stop safely and the car would go in to a limp mode.

6 months down the line and 5 times back to the garage still having the same fault.
1st and 2nd they tried recrimping the CEM module connections
3rd they said it was a sensor on the accelerator
4th alternator and battery
5th time waiting to see

Had enough of this car now hoping I can return it back to the garage and get my money back.

Volvo dealer changed the Hydraulic BCM-module.
Problem gone.
Really pricy though.

And me as well, if possible, PM me and I'll send my email address, thanks.

I've had horrendous expense trying to sort this problem, as it triggers injector problems (two new injectors and three refurbished) I've also had complete software replacement/update. CEM also removed and cleaned, but no ABS fault code showing on Volvo diagnostic gear.

I still live in fear.......

Thanks
Malcolm
