Yep. Undo the hub nut and it pulls right off. Don't let any dirt get inside.

Cheers. While I expected the ABS and DSR light to come on, I didn't expect the airbag light to also light up. FFS lol

Well, defeat begets mechanic job. I couldn't shift the hub off no matter what I tried. Unfortunately as I am currently out of work I couldn't afford to buy a hub puller and it not work so she is off to the garage Tuesday.

On the plus side I have learnt how to remove discs and calipers and fit new ones so its all not in vain.

Can't help with a hub puller I'm afraid, when I swapped one over a while back the hardest bit was undoing the hub nut which the previous owner had done up stupidly tight and probably why the bearing was knackered, I thought I was going to snap my breaker bar and didn't have a impact nut for the impact gun. If you need a hand resetting codes drop me a message.

Hub nut came off surprisingly well, it wasn't on tight, but shift the hub...nope. Even went to the garage next door to me and they suggested putting the wheel on and wobble it off as 'thats what we do', tried that but zip.

As for vida, yes that would be great for resetting codes, cheers.

Not sure whether any shops near you offer free rentals but it might be worth inquiring whether you could rent a hub puller for the day. We have Partsource here and they offer an array of tools for rent, for free!

Man how frustrating! Could you jimmy something together somehow leveragingvthe hub lugnuts for leverage to pull it off? A piece of thick wood with 4 holes and an object in the middle?

I asked my local garage and not much help at all, (went to the local Halfrauds and zip too) living in a little town, there isnt much so now booked in elsewhere. Much as I wanted to get it off, after 4 hours I had to admit defeat. Plus my neighbour asked what all the banging was.

How annoying.

The trouble with hitting them is the bearing has a very exact fit (obviously) so hitting it on one side won't help much. I find gentle hand pulling works best, with a little wiggling. You can't actually see any wiggle, indeed bearings aren't supposed to wiggle at all, and is part of the MOT inspection. The wiggling is all by feel, essentially it must be pulled off straight.

You could perhaps make a puller by drilling into some 6mm steel three holes. The two end ones for the wheel prongs, held fast by wheel nuts, and the middle one with a bolt through to push on the spline with a nut on it's reverse side forcing the steel away. Hope I've explained that satisfactorilly.
