Default T8 Charging Question

I have had my XC60 T8 for a few weeks now.

When the car is fuly charged and still tethered to my charging point a fan seems to to run until I disconnect the car. Is this normal and correct?

Seems normal - mine does it on occasion. The battery will have a cooling fan and charging raises the battery's temp.

Cheers, Andy

Yes. Perfectly normal. My T* does it as well. On occasion it sounds far louder than any other car I have had and I am pretty sure it is not simply cooling down the engine.

As far as MPG goes, it really depends on use. On a long motorway run with no charging I am getting around 26 mpg. Pure electric I get 200 mpg and with a mix I get around 45 mpg.

What distance range are you getting out of electric or with mix.

The batteries are water cooled with a radiator to then disipate the heat. This is then cooled with a cooling fan which is what you can hear running. Incidentally (on the XC90 at least) this is the reason you cannot have fog lights as the cooling rad for the batteries and the van is located down near where the fog lights would be....

Best ever for me was 390 miles. More likely to be fuelling up at about 320-350.

Thanks, I wonder how far you could get with heavy caravan on the back, I think T8 has a smaller fuel tank than the D5, I dont think I will be swapping my D5 just yet.
If I did not tow, the T8 would be a good car for me as I do a lot of short trips and most of the time less than 20 miles a day so could manage on pure electric. But range when towing might be a problem.
Has anyone on here used a T8 to tow a heavy trailer, if so any feed back, I know the power will be there and it will pull ok, but MPG and range is my worry.

Oddly enough I just posted on this topic in reply to a post in the 'Articles' section (which I think should have been here instead).

It is only a 50 litre tank and it feels small too. Towing I would imagine you would get similar to when I give it the beans so somewhere between 20 to 25..... That said when I tow the (small) boat I hardly notice it, but there is no extra significant air resistance from it....
