The D5 mpg is nearly halved when I tow my van, as low as 20mpg and about 22mpg average, (its a heavy van and usually in hilly area's) I once achieved 24mpg which I was chuffed about. So I think the petrol engine will be worse. But I have a 15 gallon tank.

I get the fan noise when charging.

I also get the fans on if I have been driving somewhat spritely on the motorway and stop for petrol - the engine fan is very loud

I get around 20 miles on electic power for the battery which largely deals with my city commute round trip of 27 miles. I am using about 0.3 of a gallon each return trip.

I am learning where I can free wheel and use regenerative braking and have been able to extend my battery life on some journeys

I had an Outlander PHEV and its promised/theoretical 30 miles range never happened - whereas my MY18 T8 promises 21 miles on elec and I reckon I pretty much always get that. I precondition if the weather's cold, and locally I drive in "Pure" all the time - I think the regen technology has moved on even in the last two or three years, as the app often shows a surprising amount of regeneration (it often seems to regenerate about half what it's used).

Does anyone know if the fuel consumption on the screen takes account of fuel used by the heater?

I reckon that the screen over estimates the efficiency (ie under reports consumption) by a couple of mpg but have never done a summer/winter comparison.

I've assumed it doesn't. My thinking was that the mpg figure is probably calculated using fuel consumption data produced by the engine management system but that the aux fuel heater is too 'dumb' to report how much fuel it's actually using. I could be wrong though.

I think it may do on the T8 as trips I've made in Pure mode and when the aux. heater has come on (either for preconditioning or to warm the cabin) it shows a mpg figure sometimes up to over 200mpg and the engine hasn't been started.

When the heater hasn't been on it shows <0.1 mpg in the app although I guess this should really show infinity

If I did not tow, the T8 would be a good car for me as I do a lot of short trips and most of the time less than 20 miles a day so could manage on pure electric. But range when towing might be a problem.
Has anyone on here used a T8 to tow a heavy trailer, if so any feed back, I know the power will be there and it will pull ok, but MPG and range is my worry.
The T8 is not suitable for heavy towing. I've made a big mistake in choosing the car as I had intended to tow a trailer of over 2000kg but within the recommended braked limit of 2400kg. I now have to hire a basic pickup to tow across Europe leaving an expensive T8 behind.

When I towed over 2000kgs the MPG wouldn't even stay in double figures. That meant refuelling within 100 miles which is annoying and in reality too risky in finding filling station frequently enough. I ended up carrying spare fuel which is far from ideal and that added more load to pull!

I also tow a trailer at around 1300kg and even then keeping the MPG above 20 is a struggle but at least you can drive about 180 miles between fills.

If you need to tow the T8 is the wrong choice.

The T8 is just the wrong choice for long trips, period. I have a 500 miles commute to see my GF and the small tank in the T8 is just not cutting it...
