I have only ever seen one new XC60 since they were announced and it was not an Essex number plate so I could be the only one hereabouts. We are a rare breed.

There are a few around Sidcup where I'm at now. Couple more lurking around Chislehurst too.

It's getting so bad in waitrose carpark around here with Landrover disco sports etc owners have to like click their keyfob to know which one is theirs

People must have seen me tooling it about on nursery run and thought YEAH, I'll have one of those

It's actually quite funny if you pop to local volvo dealer. They have a bunch of new xc90's out front...about 6 or so and you can look at them all and see the chrome trim around the windows on every one of them lifting up in different places.

Bit of a joke tbh.

There is one xc90 that parks over at farnborough village near orpington. The front passenger door chrome trim on the window curls up so badly I notice it every single time I pass it.

Wonder if the owners lurking here...

My previous one I found to be very good, but this one must have glow worms inside the lense.
I've now got another complaint. I like the way the doors cover the sills and keeps them clean. But I don't like the fact that the rear doors get absolutely filthy around the inside rear edge. I guess you can't have one with out the other. I am a bit worried that the paint might get chipped by stones/muck thrown up by the rear wheels, which could lead to rust.
Any thoughts?

I had mud flaps fitted by the dealer before delivery and I do not get what you describe. However I have been through plenty of heavy rain but not aware of any particularly muddy rides. The back of the car now stays lovely and clean, not like my previous XC60 which would be dirty after any very wet road.

No its not the back of the car, but the rear doors. If you open the rear doors there is a rubber seal which stops dirt and muck from getting into the cars interior, it's here that the dirt collects. You have said in the past that you don't clean your car, but prefer it done by a valet service, so perhaps you haven't noticed it, or the roads are dirtier in my area.
Mud flaps wouldn't help in this situation, because it's in front of the rear wheels, not behind them.

Funny enough I was pointing out exactly the same thing to my wife when we came back from shopping today. It does look a real mess around that area.

Could be my imagination but I also think that most of the tyre noise is from that area.

I think the main problem is that the rear end seal is actually in the wheel arch right in line with the road muck. Perhaps some kind of deflector strip would have helped.

I guess that there is no solution now but I have also noticed that it does clean up quite well with washing and a good jet wash of the wheel arches. I then finish off the bottoms of the doors with a damp microfibre cloth.

Roll on summer!

Mike

Same with our car - a couple of short journeys on wet roads this week have left the car filthy, and the inside of the rear doors are plastered.

The design does mean that the back of my trouser legs don’t get to clean the sill like on the previous XC60!

Can’t see any way of stopping it happening - hey ho, I know what I’ll be doing in the morning, hose pipe and car cleaning gear will be coming out of the shed.
