Default Quarter light adjustment

Hi

I have new seals on my P1800S quarter lights and now lots of wind noise. The glass does't appear to touch the seal at the top on the straight vertical. What can I adjust?

Any hints and tips?

Pete

Mine is the same. I've put new rubbers in (because the old ones did this. I assumed it was old rubbers causing it), re-riveted the catch to make it tighter, and spent hours trying to get it to seal correctly.

The only (good) solution I have found is to push on the 'pointy' end at the front bottom, which pulls the rear edge into the seal. Only good while you are doing it though of course.

I did have a little luck by removing the glass and bending the frame a bit by hand. It seems to have gone back to how it was now though.

I also had some luck by sticking some door draught stopping stuff onto the trailing edge of the glass. This worked ok, but looked silly.

I dont think there is any real adjustement for these to be honest. You can fiddle the bottom hinge a little by using a bit of plastic or something to space it out. This just put things out more for me though.

Good luck, and I'll be keeping an eye on this thread!

Apparently vaseline will damage the rubber

If its the same problem as mine, its not that its tight or sticking, its that the glass doesn't touch the rubber in places. Top of the trailing edge being worse for me.

Yup - that is my problem, glass and rubber do not meet at the top.

Annoyingly the old seal did. Although it needed replacing.

Default Quarter light

Check the inner bottom chromed edge where the fulcrum pin drops down. It has to be perfectly straight along its entire length. It affects the the fit at the top! Hence wind noise. Also after fitting new rubbers, the window is not easy to close fully until they have 'bedded' down.
Another point about new rubbers, make sure the drainage hole in the bottom groove is not still blocked by moulding rubber.
