Default "Follow Me Home" on S/V90?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone's fitted a "Follow Me Home" headlight relay 9483309 from the S/V/C70 onto the S/V90.
The standard headlight relay on the facelift 960 (S/V90) is 3523200, same as the headlight relay on 850s and early S/V/C70s up to 1998. Apparently the "Follow Me Home" headlight relay can be fitted on 850s & early S/V/C70s, so I'm hoping it should work on the facelift S/V90 as well...

OK - I'll ask. What is the 'Follow me home' bit?

Just found out from the Mini2 forum - it must be a 'modern' thing.

Hi,

And for those still wondering.
What's Follow me Home on my BMW (Sorry for swearing!).

Both previous answers are correct.
It is also commonly known as "driveway illumination".

If you have an aftermarket alarm system, you can also program one of your spare channels on your aftermarket keyfob to activate this feature.

Des, you old spoilsport!

I was sitting back waiting for the people to ask me what it was and I was just counting the fortune that was coming my way.

Still, I suppose that this is a free and friendly place ...

Default It works!!!

Decided to take a gamble and bought the headlight relay off eBay, and I'm delighted to report that it works on my S90! I assume that it will also work on all facelift 960's.

I've noticed a few small difference as opposed to the instructions in the 1999 & later S/V/C70 owner's manual. In the owner's manual it says to remove key from ignition switch first before pulling the main beam lever to activate follow me home which illuminates dipped beam for 30 seconds. On my S90 it works with the key still in the ignition & even with the key turned to position I or II. And on my S90 with dim-dip headlights, activating follow me home actually turns on all exterior lights (front & rear parking lights, rear license plate lights) in addition to dipped beam headlights. Disabling dim-dip via the small selector on the headlight switch or pulling out the blue dim-dip relay in the engine compartment relay/fuse box and follow me home only turns on dipped beam headlights.

I've also noticed that if I leave the headlight switch in the ON position & ignition switch in position 0 or I (headlights turned off by ignition) then activates follow me home, the dim-dip relay makes a rather unpleasant buzzing sound.
