Dear Fellow members
Season's Grtgs frm Singapore!!.
Well, I noticed that recently, my 240SE 1991 has been running rich, from observation that the exhaust pipe now has a lot more carbon.
Changed the air filter but to no avail.
It's also running "hotter" especially during stop lights, short traffic jams etc.
Flused the radiator, but it didn't help too.
The lambda light doesn't come on at all.
Could it be the cat converter?, oxygen sensor? Air Mass Meter?.
Also, after a short run and I need to re-start the car, engine will refuse to idle, it cuts off. I usually have to put my foot on the pedal, until the revs goes up to about 1000rpm. Lift off too soon and the engine cuts off.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Rgds

Hi Bob,

Sorry to hear about the problems you're having. I have the contact details of a Volvo specialist in JB, who is just a stone's throw from the Woodlands causeway but that would of course mean a trip across. He's exceptionally good at the older models esp the 140 and 240 range. He's been working on my dad's 144 for many years and having just driven that car over Christmas, it really is running very well for its age. Let me know and I'll pass you his details if you'd like them.

Hi Pyaap

Grtgs!!

Mny tks, yes please, would appreciate the contact details for the mechanic in JB. No worries, I go in quite often. My work means I take a drive to KL at least once a month, and I always use the Volvo.

BTW, are you Singaporean?.

Tks
Bob

Hi Bob,

Sorry for my delayed response. Here are the details you require:

S.S. Auto Service
No 2-A, Jalan Quek Keng Kang
(off Jalan Ah Siang)
80300 Johor Bahru
Tel: 07-2228962

When you call, ask for "Ah-Lee". The garage is very close to the Malaysian end of the old causeway so its easily accessible. They are exceptionally good with all older Volvo cars to the extent that even Federal Auto send them all the cars which they struggle with. I'm sure they will be able to help you out.
