amazon estate with folding roof
Hello from New Brunswick Canada! Recently joined this forum and really enjoying all the great reading! bought my first Volvo at 13 (68 142s) and have been hooked ever since, now at 31 my volvo collection includes my wifes XC90, C70 (my everyday) a 544 awaiting someday restoration and my current project 122 wagon saved from the crusher. I found this 122 6 months ago and had to save it but am looking for some advise/information.I have included some pics of when I brought it home, it looks worse than it is lol.The body is quite solid and the original interior after removing the seat covers is in great shape. The car is a '63 with what looks like a dealer installed folding vinyl/canvas roof which resembles a webasto unit the plate on the roof assembly says Carrosserie Walz & Kapfer Reinhardstr. 15 Zurich 8 Tel. 32 37 16. Has anyone heard of this supplier before?or has this type of roof on their swede? Is there any place I can buy a replacement roof assembly or parts to restore the one I have? I am also having a hard time finding replacement grilles ( mine are bashed) I esp need the cross bars and surround trim the steel mesh is ok, and I would like to find the proper wheels and hubcaps as well. Thanks in advance for any infomation, having a lot of fun playing with the car and getting my 7 year old daughter hooked on fixing old volvos too!

Baited breath.
I have seen shots of a champagne coloured sedan before (and dreamed of owning one), but this is news to me.

Oh, pics - you will see on the upload screen there are some size limitations. Can you deal with that? As has been said elsewhere, for those of us with only basic computer skills Microsoft Paint works if you load the pics and then "resize" them. For pics in the MB range, I use 20%, others have success with 50%.

If you need to resize pics the easy way is Microsofts 'image resizer' just install right click on the pic you wantto resize then select small medium or large, medium is usually fine for websites, its an XP powertoy but works fine for me with win7 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/w...ndows-xp?T1=PT

Yes, looking forward to the pictures. "Walz & Kapfer" were almost certainly the bodyshop that fitted the sunroof so your car sounds as if it's got an interesting early history. A very good chance that it is a Webasto roof. Lots were fitted to Beetles so there would have been a fitting agent fairly local to the dealer.
Unfortunately the Estate/Wagon has a strengthening bar across the roof at the B post position and this has to be cut to fit a reasonably sized sun roof. This does weaken the structure, as this is also the joining point of the two roof sections. Early wagons getting very rare so I hope you can find suitable front grille parts rather than changing it all to the later version. |

Yay! Interesting!! More like a moon-roof, I was thinking the whole top came off.
Unbelievable interior there, mate. Really nice. I expect you are going to be getting new stuff fabbed up all from scratch, but maybe somebody will show-up on here who knows different. A one-in-a-million car (er, were there 30,000 made??)
