Tinting photos needed
Hi all,
I am looking for some window tinting photos of a V40 in blue, I am going to be getting my V40 tinted (B pillar back for MOT reasons) the sport does already have partly tinted windows but I won't be touching the front windows only B pillar back. Just wondering if anyone had any photos they had come accross of a tinted V40 in a darker colour, This V70 isn't legal on UK roads, but looks amazing lol Because my car is a dark blue I think dark tints would work well on it, but just need to see if there are any photos of a V40 running tints already - I guess I could look at the S40 as well and see how the dark tints and blue goes. Basic attempt to mod a photo for tints lol Last edited by m1tch1987; May 14th, 2012 at 22:23. |

I had all my windows tinted, I had 20% applied to the front windows, 10% rear passenger doors & 5% at the back. I've always liked tinted windows but reversing when its dark & raining is not much fun! Still won't stop me getting my S40 tinted in the near future! |

Do you have any issues with MOTs etc? im thinking about 5% B pillar back, the fronts are already slightly tinted originally as its a sport. The car looks awesome btw

Never had a problem MOT'ing it with the tints, traffic cop took a dim view! (excuse the pun) So they were removed at the roads side, good job I never had the windscreen tinted as well, would have been a waste of tint film & a bugger to get off.
To be honest the front tints were not a good idea, in bad weather at night you really struggled to see anything. I wouldn't have them on the front windows again as much as I loved the look. Sorry about the poor picture quality I can't find the high res pictures anymore. |

We used to tint a lot of car and a lot of the customers would ask for limo tint all round. This used to lead to the same problem, having to remove the front tints at the road side because a polite (sometimes) police officer would ask you to rather than making him seize the car!!
The best combination we found was Front sides = 15% tint (light smoke) Rear windows = 35% (dark smoke) Depending on the tint you have from the factory, the light smoke can pass the light test done by the police but if you have a good tint from the factory, it will not. Because the rears with the dark smoke or even limo tint, look darker than the fronts with the light smoke, we tend to find the police leave you alone and the MOT bays pass the cars without a problem but if you have any worries, either have the standard windows tested for light filtration 1st or just leave the fronts untinted.

It really is a skilled job and having it done properly will make the car look bespoke and not boy racery at all (doing it badly will leave creases and bubbles making the car look like it belongs in a scrap yard) It is not a cheap job to have done, most of the time you will be charged around £250 to have all 7 windows tinted but when you see the end result, it is definitely money well spent

Images such as these shouldn't be allowed on a family forum Emmmmmmn...Nice... What's the story, Firebolt, looks as though you've been making a lot of progress? Sorry, Mitch, can't offer you any advice with regards to the tints but, my T4 being Silver Dawn, I'd also be interested to see how they would look. Photoshop anyone?

Thanks for all the help guys, just working out which tint would look best, maybe not a 5% limo tint due to the front windows not being touched (not even going to risk it)
Here is a silver V40 tinted, im guessing that must be bagged to get it running that low |
