Trying to install vida 2012a
Hi
I am trying to install vida 2012a on an old toshiba laptop L40, with XP, Internet explorer 8 & 24.6GB free on C drive. When I put the disc in I get a picture of a car on a road followed by a 'preparing set up box' Then it says 'set up type' with 3 options, all in one, vida on web or custom? Which one do I choose, can't seem to get much further? If I choose 'all in one' its asks for language then it starts a set up box, then it displays the message '1 or more components doesn't fulfill Vida's requirements' ? |

All in one.
1 or more components-your operating system is short of something. How much RAM do you have? Do you have XP Pro? There will have been a vida log file like the one created in post 1 in the following link http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=182461 There are some installation modifications that can be altered to vida & do operating system. If changes to vida are required, then the whole installation disk must be copied and pasted to your HD and installed from there. The vida file for alteration is Compinfi, which is in VIDA (INSTALL\DVD\Vida_dvdheader\compinfo.ini) If you need to convert XP to XP Pro, then follow the procedure below. 1.Open Registry Editor (regedit). 2.Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet00X/Control/ProductOptions, (where ControlSet00X is the one with the highest number.)ie, ControlSet001 or 002 or 003 (highest numer.) 3.Delete the ProductSuite registry key. 4.Then, create a new DWORD value and named it as Brand. (to create DWORD, right click, you see New & other options. 5.Set the “Brand” value data as 0. (to set value, doule click DWORD after you have named it) 6.Reboot the system. 7.On boot up after the BIOS screen, press F8 to display Windows XP Startup Menu. 8.Choose Last Known Good Configuration (LNG) and hit Enter. Windows XP will start up as usual. After logging into the desktop, check the system properties to verify that it’s now Windows XP Professional. Hope this helps

The log will be in C:/vida.
Regedit-From start menu-click start/run-then type REGEDIT is space provided, then click run. Then the registry editor will open for you to follow instructions. Please don't hold me responsible for any mistakes you may make in editing your registry. There are also YouTube vids showing these instructions
