You may be aware, but Volvo S40/V40 need an OBDII compliant with communication protocol ISO 9141-2 with the diagnostic connector having pins 4, 5, 7, and 16 active.

zealemao thank you for your answer. I have the same cable like you.

I have a diesel D4192T2 engine with MSA 15.5 ecu and there's also possibility to connect DDT2000 but we must manually choose MSA15_1998.xml file from ecu folder.

Regards

Question Need a similar Interface

Hello Pepisan,
I'm glat to read that your hard work finally paid. I have a 1998 s40 Fenix 5.1. For now close to 3 years, I can't turn offf the check engine light. I've worked with vagcom with VolFCR and worked fine with other ECUs. I tried to modify the interface to like Zealemao suggests but without any success. I'm only requesting if you could direct me on how to get a similar interface like yours.

While I'm good at IT, I know less with electronics. Is there a link online where I can find a similar interface?
Many thanks for the help

Cheers!

The adapter I made is from this schematic:

You will need too supply +5v and gnd from ftdi to the 7400, this is not in the schematic, but is necessary.

You download and install DDT2000:

I have win 7 32bit, some people said it won't work with 64bit but I haven't tried.

You will need to install fdti drivers (latest) and the new com port will show in ddt2000 configuration.

You connect to the car as follows:

4 --- GND
16 --- +12
15 --- L
11 --- K

You need to manually select Fenix 5.1 when you start ddt2000:

Vehicles > Megane/Scenic > ECU > Fenix 5.1

Then go to screens and start the communication (play + green button)
You can also record the data and look at it as graphs:

Here are some pics of the whole thing:

Isn't very nice but if you put it in a box with nice cables it would look better...

And some images of the data you get:

This is the Screens (Parameters live data)

And the recorder

BTW I'd like to thank A40 for the schematic. It was a difficult task to find the correct way ti initialize this specific ECU.

Default fenix 5.1 read with ddt2000 not working with ch340

I tried reading the ecu because of a slight stutter at low rpm and increased fuel consumption.
I adapted a KKL VAG-COM 409.1 cable with ch340 serial chip and it doesn't work most likely due to wrong baud rate for K line protocol.
