Default Roll bar fixing.

Please confirm, should these be tightened up all the way or just enough? Don't want to over compress the rubbers/PUs. Just seems a lot of the threaded rod showing.

With the car on the ground, put the steering on full lock to give yourself a bit of room and tighten up the nut/bolt until the rubber bushes just start to compress and you should be ok… it's always worth re-checking the tightness after you've done a few miles.

If you go mad and over tighten them, the bushes will over-compress and won't be able to do their job properly.

Don't worry about the threaded rod showing - think there is about 4 inches showing on my Amazon drop links.

This is a good place to have poly bushes as it makes the ARB more responsive to the suspension movements. With softer rubber bushes the ARB tends to stay where it is while the suspension moves so reacts more slowly. Poly a minor tweak but a good one. Poly bushes in the clamps are good too.

Arcturus;

I recall when using Rubber bushes, the guideline was to tighten the hardware and compress the assembly until they bulged out to the outer dimension of the washer...but that clearly doesn't apply with Poly...because these bulge out only minimally as they a compressed.

...so I would agree that it should be "just enough"...which calls for the use of judgement, particularly with Polyurethane bushes...

...and I agree with Derek...if the point of increased ARBs is to make the suspension more responsive in cornering (it certainly is, and does), without straightline harshness, then poly bushes are they way to go...I love the positive transformation of roadholding they result in!

Cheers

Thanks. I think I will loosen off the nuts and do as suggested with the wheels on ground and full lock. The new springs, shocks and poly bushes will hopefully transform the steering and front suspension.
