Default Phone automatically connecting to car to provide internet

Hi does anyone know if it is possible to jump into the car and the internet connectivity between the car and my phone connect automatically?
I currently have to turn the hotspot on and off on my phone before it connects to wifi.
Can anyone help?

Try enabling internet over Bluetooth. That solved that problem for me.

Would love to hear if anyone has found a solution. I have this problem with an iPhone.

Automatic wifi tethering isn't possible with an iPhone but can be done with some Android phones.

Yes.

I use MacDroid. It is sublime. You can even add a audio welcome message of your choice so you know you are connected.

There are pre configured Macros already present so you do not need to configure anything if you dont like fiddling( like I do..lol)

My Galaxy S android phone connected to car (or car connected to phone) automatically when I got in my XC90 as long as tethering was left on.

Settings/wireless and network/tethering/mobile AP. Battery runs down quickly so best to connect usb charger as well. You will have to set car wifi to pick this option too.

The beauty of the app I mentioned ( and similar ones) , is that you no longer need to leave you tethering on.The app will automatically do this for you as soon as you sit in you car and can also switch itself off when you disconnect your phone from the car by switching your engine off.Its brilliant.

I definitely would try it if I were still connecting phone to car but I now use the 3 12gb data card in the car modem.

Hi thanks for reply's so far. If you have one of Steve Jobs finest "innovations" how the hell do you get it to pair/tether/linkup automatically? Is it possible?
Cheers.

I don't think it's possible on an iPhone and Google now appears to have disabled the ability to automate wifi tethering with Android.

It was working on my Nexus phone but stopped a couple of months back after a security update. It'll probably continue to work on non-Google phones as very few other Android phone makers or networks bother to pass on Google's monthly updates.
