Default Handbrake adjust tutorial + adjuster kit fitting

Hi all

I'm going to attempt to fit my recently purchased adjuster kit and also adjust the handbrake as much as possible next weekend. ( MOT very soon!)

Would anybody have a guide on how to complete both?

All advice is greatly appreciated!

Best,
Gerard

Cheshired has a you tube site with relevant info

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...djuster&page=2

Also do a search on "adjuster" and/or "hand/parking brake" on here

Cheers

Dave

I fitted new genuine Volvo rear discs, pads and shoes along with the shoe adjuster modification to mine, then adjusted only the cable (leave the adjusters for now) and let the shoes bed in for a couple of weeks (parking brake very poor at this point) then loosen cable and tighten up shoe adjusters and re-adjust the cable and the parking brake can easily hold on a 15° incline.

Easiest way to adjust the cable is to unbolt the passenger front seat (UK models) and lift the seat back a few inches to allow access to the cable taking care not to disturb the wire connections under the seat

I had the dealer fit new genuine Volvo rear discs, pads and shoes (but without shoe adjuster modification) to mine and the parking brake can easily hold on a 18° incline (required by the MOT test in Switzerland).

Didn't get my hands dirty one bit, didn't fret about lifts, tools, parts, etc etc etc. But I paid for the pleasure of course.
