V60 door lock actuator replacement
hi guys,
I have a problem on my 2013 V60 where the drivers door is not unlocking with the remote. It started failing intermittently a few weeks ago and has gradually got worse (maybe due to the cold weather) to the point where now I have to press the keyfob about 10 times before it unlocks although once it is successful it then works fine until the car is left locked for a few hours then it fails again. I can hear the mechanism trying to work unsuccesfully so I suspect it is mechanical rather than electrical although I wouldn't rule that out. I found this useful video on youtube showing a full tear down to replace the spring and motor in the actuator unit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIZmJFqoDKk and although it would be a long job I have done stuff like this before so I'm tempted to give it a go rather than pay the £385 my local garage want to replace the unit. So I was wondering a) has anyone else encountered/fixed this issue themselves before? b) where can I get a used replacement lock assembly in case I need one? I spoke to the dealers who wanted £215+vat, they gave me the code 31349861 however searching online for this I can't find a used one anywhere in the uk, surely they can't be that rare or is there another equivalent product code? thanks! In the end I got my local garage to sort it, they charged me £360 of which I think about £260 was for the part they ordered no 31349861 although the number on the part they took off was 31301740? Either way it works fine now, I'm sure I could have fitted the part myself if I had time, you can either order it from a Volvo dealer or on the Skandix website I think. I did try opening up the old part, the spring looked ok so assume it was the motor however I wouldn't know which motor to order as I think the unit was different to the one on that video I posted previously?

I personally think this is unacceptable on Volvo’s part. They must be aware that there have been many many cases where these lock actuators fail. For a company so proud of safety and security it’s a little odd. Any chance you could get a goodwill contribution from Volvo UK?

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but i have the same issue with my front drivers door, i've ordered the part number "31349860"
Does anyone know if there is any meaningful difference between 31349861 and 31349860? Thanks. |

Mine is non keyless so I'm assuming 60 might be that one. And opposite for the 61. Was your car keyless? If so, I think that's probably it. Other possibility could be LHD and RHD variations, but not sure how they could possibly be different. Last edited by jimftr; Nov 18th, 2020 at 22:15. |
